Westminster, SC Electrician — Serving from Sunset

Real electrical work for Sunset, Salem, and the Lake Keowee communities of Oconee and Pickens County. Licensed, insured, permits handled.

WHAT WE DO HERE

Westminster homes, real electrical work.

Westminster, South Carolina sits in southern Oconee County along the I-85 / Hwy 76 corridor. We are based about 40 minutes north in Sunset, SC, but Westminster is one of our regular service areas — most weeks we have at least one job there.

Westminster is also growing fast: new builds along the I-85 frontage, EV chargers in residential garages, generator installs ahead of weather season, and panel upgrades for homes that are getting more electrical load (heat pumps, hot tubs, charging stations) than they were ever wired for.

If you’re in Westminster proper, off Long Creek, or anywhere along the Tugaloo, plan on a 1-hour response window. Same-week scheduling is the norm; same-day is realistic if a truck is already on that side of the county.

Sunset Electric is the licensed residential electrician that Westminster homeowners can actually rely on. We show up when we say we will, quote in writing, pull permits where required, and won’t leave wire nuts loose under the crawlspace.

LAKE KEOWEE SPECIALTY

Lake Keowee work isn't the same as inland work.

If you own on Lake Keowee, your electrical is more complicated than the average inland house. Dock receptacles and lighting fall under NEC Article 555. Boat lifts need a dedicated circuit with GFCI protection rated for the wet location — and an old GFCI installed 15 years ago won’t pass a modern inspection anymore. Shore power for pontoons and runabouts needs the correct terminal type and isolated ground path.

On top of that, many Keowee homes were built 20–40 years ago on 150-amp service that’s now overloaded with central AC, an EV charger, and a standby generator — all drawing off the same panel. Before you add load, we do a full calculation. If the service needs to bump from 150A to 200A (or 400A for the new Cliffs builds), we handle the Duke Energy coordination, meter base swap, and inspection from start to finish.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

Most weeks — usually at least one job in southern Oconee County any given week. We are based 40 minutes north in Sunset, SC, so we batch trips when we can. Same-week scheduling is the norm; same-day is realistic only if a truck is already on that side of the county.

Yes. SC Electrical Contractor license CLM118131 — look it up on the SC LLR site. We pull permits with the correct county building department for every job that needs one and keep the paperwork on file in case you need it at sale time.

Most of the time, yes — assuming Duke Energy can do the disconnect/reconnect on schedule and the inspector is available. We coordinate it ahead so the power-off window is usually 4-6 hours, not all day. Older Westminster homes that need a riser or re-grounding can push to a day and a half.

Yes — Westminster, Fair Play, Long Creek, and the surrounding I-85 frontage. Most newer builds have the panel space; older homes sometimes need an upgrade first. We will tell you straight up before you buy a charger.

Both — but the 40-minute drive does mean we are honest about trip charges for one-room jobs. For a Westminster minimum, expect a one-hour minimum on labor plus the trip. If it is a real emergency (sparking, no power, breaker not resetting), we will not turn it down.
